HOW TO APPLY CUSTOM HEAT TRANSFERS

Step 1 : Ensrure a Flat Surface

Before you apply your transfer, make sure all seams, pockets, buttons, zips and other raised aspects to the garment are off the surface of the platen.

If there are any seams on the platen when you fuse this will affect the pressure when you fuse and the transfer will not apply as it should.

Step 2: Pre-Press

nless you are using a Heat Press with a lower heated platen, it is important to always pre-press your material. This will remove any moisture and get the material smooth for application.

5 seconds is uaually enough to prepare your garment however if there is extra moisture or your garment is particularly thick it may need longer. (Pre-Press your garment until there is no steam appearing).

Step 3: Time, Temperatue & Pressure

Ensuring the correct time temperature and pressure when fusing is vital to the transfer applying properly.

All Hotronix Heat Presses have over centre pressure and digital readout allowing you to apply and save the correct settings and giving you confidence for a perfect fuse every time.

Step 4: Fuse

Now place your Heat Transfer on the garment. We recommend using heat tape here to keep the design in place and release paper to protect both the transfer and your heat press.

Fuse your transfer per instructions for Screen or UltraColour (explained below).

Step 5: Peeling the Carrier

Once your fuse is complete, carefully move the garment from the press into a flat surface.

Wait until the transfer and garment are completely cold and then peel the carrier away, behinning from the thickest part of the transfer.

Wait 24-48 hours before washing the garment to allow the transfer adhesive to bond to the garment and you're done!

WHICH HEAT PRESS

Choosing the right Heat Press is essential. A heat press that delivers accurate time, temperature, and pressure will ensure a durable print every time, and repeat customers.

A quick check list should include:

  • Over Centre Pressure.
  • Digital readout of time, temperature, and pressure.
  • Long warranty (at least 5 years on framework and 30 on the heating element).

Hotronix® heat presses feature the world’s most innovative technology. Featuring Auto Open and over-the-centre pressure adjustment, all machines are made in the USA.
